Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to introduce students with the institutional structure of the European Union and processes associated with the powers delegated to European authorities. This course will present the function and structure of central authorities shaping the institutional system of the EU, important areas of European agenda, such as internal market, economic and monetary union, agricultural policy, cohesion policy, common foreign and security policy etc. The final part will concentrate on ways of participation of member states in the processes within the EU and on Europeanization of national political systems. Seminary classes will deal with key elements of political systems of EU member states.

Requirements on student
|
Students regularly read assigned texts in Czech and foreign languages and prepare assignments on a regular basis. The assignments are in the form of oral presentations or texts; this will be arranged by mutual agreement between lecturer and students. Assignments will be evaluated by lecturer.
Presentation generally lasts about 10-20 minutes, standard length of papers is 10-20 standard pages.
