Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to advance students knowledge of problems of philosophy of science. Present them philosophical views on science in 20th century. Present to students most important philosophers, who from philosophical view reserched the science and evaluate basic ideas and thesis, which influenced the philosophy of science of 20th century. This course is dedicated specially to the students of masters speciallization Analytic philosophy and philosophy of science on Philosophical faculty.

This topics will be focused: Postpositivistical philosophy of science. Philosophy of science of K. Popper. Historical conception of T. S. Kuhn. Methodology of reserching programs of I. Lakatos. Methodological anarchism of P. K. Feyerabend. Sociological return in philosophy of science. Scientifical realism and intrumentalism. The progress of scientifical rationality, the term of truth in present science, truth as a value. Science and non-scientifical forms of knowledge (K. R. Popper, J. Ziman, P. K. Feyerabend, P. Thegars). Problem of scientifical interpretation (C. Hempel, E. Nagel, C. Levi-Strauss). Scientifical theory and observation (R. Carnap, N. R. Hanson, I. Toulmin, W. V. Quine, T. Kuhn, Ph. Frank). Science and value (C. Hempel, N. Rescher). Science and culture (H. Feigl). About the characteristic of scientifical method (R. Carnap, H. Reichenbach). Ontological, epistemological, logical problems of science in particular historical periods of progress of the philosophy of science. Specifics of sociological and humanity sciences. Progress of humanity ideal of scientifical knowledge. The view of humanity knowledge in philosophy of 20th century (phenomenology, structuralism, psycho-analyses, marxism, existentionalism, hermeneutics, analytical philosophy). The relationship of natural and sociological sciences and humanities.

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will be able to summarize and evaluate basic ideas and problems of philosophy of science, specially in 20th century. They will advance their actual knowledge of these problems. Philosophical views on science of 20th century will be presented to them. They will compare ideas and systems of most important philosophers, who influenced philosophy of science. They will learn how to work with technical terms of philosophy of science.
