Course objectives:
|
The objective of the course is to get the foreign students acquainted with the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
The course is taught in French. It is completed by a colloquium.
|
Requirements on student
|
Seminar paper.
Completion of an overall test the written part of the exam as well as the oral examination.
Completion of report from three chosen excursions.
Oral presentation of a paper on the topic from the given list. This presentation is done during the colloquium.

The content of course:
- Central Europe in the historical context
- Contribution of Central Europe to the European philosophy
- Czech literature in international context
- The beginnings of the national music in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia
- Fine arts in the Czech Republic
- Czech cinematography
Excursions:
1) Pilsen
- Pilsen, the historic city, and its brewery traditions
- Visit of Techmanie Plzeň and important sports grounds in Pilsen
- Visit of a chosen theatre performance of J.K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen
- Visit of the West Bohemia Museum and the West Bohemia Gallery
2) outside Pilsen
- The West Bohemia Spa and Cheb, the historic town
- Prague, the architectural gem
- Historical monuments of the Pilsen Region 1
- Historical monuments of the Pilsen Region 2
