Course content
|
1. Postcolonial Studies. Fundamental theoretical approaches and methodologies. Multiple perspectives on the study of art. The antithesis of a single, central narrative of (European) art history, contrasted with a broad network of diverse narratives in world art and the possibilities for their interconnection. The development of European museums. 2. Global subjects. European art and inspiration from traditional Chinese and Japanese art. 3. The history of private collecting of world art. Modern European art and inspiration from various areas of African art. 4. The development of post-war art since 1945. The global contemporary scene since the 1980s. Global art and contemporary fashion design. The reinterpretation of tradition in contemporary global ceramics. 5. Art in totalitarian systems. Official art of totalitarian regimes, using the examples of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. 6. Analysis of the situation in Czechoslovakia after 1948 and after 1968. 7.
