Course content
1. Fundamental Issues in Translation. The Origins and Development of Translation Theory. Theorists. 2. Types of Translations. Translation Methods and Procedures. 3. The Issue of Genres in Translation. 4. Selected Grammatical, Orthographic, and Stylistic Features of the Russian Language in Comparison with the Czech Language. 5. Lexicon without equivalents. Interference. 6. Theory-focused test. 7. Analysis of translation samples. Practical translation: educational and psychological topics (Russian to Czech). 8. Practical translation: educational and psychological topics (Czech to Russian). 9. Analysis of sample translations. Practical translation: travel guides about the Czech Republic (Russian-Czech). 10. Analysis of sample translations. Practical translation: travel guides about the Czech Republic (Czech-Russian). 11. Analysis of sample translations. Practical translation: Czech scientific achievements (Russian-Czech). 12. Analysis of sample translations. Practical translation: Czech scientific achievements (Czech-Russian). 13. Test focused on translation practice and expanding one's vocabulary.
