Course content
Withdrawal and machining of test specimens for mechanical testing. Mechanical tests at static and dynamic loading. Tensile, compression, bend and torsion tests. Hardness tests. Charpy test. Fatigue testing. Elevated temperature tests. Elastic and elastoplastic fracture mechanics. Crack growth rate measurement.

Knowledge
students after passing through the subject obtain knowledge of basic and advanced methods of mechanical testing
orientate in the problems of basic mechanical testing
describe and explain the principles of individual methods of testing materials that are used in practice, including correct sampling principles
understand the basics of fracture mechanics
prepared and able to decide in practice on the necessity of a test including the necessary range of measured quantities and data
to navigate the processes of calibration and validation of measuring devices
statistically evaluate the measured data
Skills
analyze data and quantities obtained from individual test methods
perform proper sampling, including its preparation for testing
interpret measured results and data
prepare a measurement protocol including statistical evaluation of the data
