Course content
Lectures 1. Infection of the respiratory system - upper tract. 2. Infection of the respiratory system - lower tract. Tuberculosis. 3. GIT infection. 4. Anthropopathogenic and zoopathogenic salmonellae. 5. Viral hepatitis. 6. Infection of the uropoietic system. 7. Infection of the genital systems. 8. Sexually transmitted infections. 9. Infection of the nervous system. 10. Diseases transmitted by insects and arthropods. Erysipelas. 11. Nosocomial infections. 12. Rare and new infections. 13. The issue of bioterrorism. A Lab exercise 1. Principles of registration of incoming biological material. Principles of communication of results with regard to the protection of personal data of the patient. Review of occupational safety and health protection principles when working in a microbiological laboratory. 2. Basic bacteriological soil, cultivation technique. Isolation and inoculation of microorganisms. 3. Soils and detection of grown cultures - Streptococcus, Staphylococcus. 4. Collection, processing and determination of Neisseria bacteria with a focus on Neisseria gonorrhoeae and meningitidis. 5. Soils and determination of grown cultures of the Enterobacteriaceae family. 6. Anaerobic cultivation, anaerobic microbes. 7. Acid-resistant microbes - detection. 8. Basics of virological diagnostics, tissue culture. Serology of virological infections. 9. Viral hepatitis - the importance of markers. 10. Retroviruses, HIV virus - laboratory diagnostics. 11. Microbiology of urine. Microbiology of cerebrospinal fluid. 12. Practical examination. 13. Credit test.
