Course content
Lectures 1. General aspects of nursing care, multidisciplinary team, communication. 2. Legislation, medical and nursing documentation in the standard department. 3. Fundamentals and principles of nursing process, planning of nursing care, nursing diagnostics, needs of patient. 4. Treatment unit - equipment, reception, translation, release. Medical and nursing vision. 5. Patient bed and its treatment, bed support facilities. Hygienic care for adults and children. Nursing process in wound care, pressure sores, bandage technique, cart. 6. Nursing process in monitoring physiological functions - consciousness, blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, breath, weight and height. 7. Disinfection, sterilization, prevention of nosocomial infections. 8. Nursing process in providing nutrition for adults and children, dietary system, nutritional team, pathological states of nutrition. 9. Nursing process in biological material sampling - general principles, types of examination. 10. Nursing process in urine and stool emptying - terms, factors affecting micturition and defecation, excretion disorders, fluid balance monitoring. 11. Nursing procedure for oral and injectable drugs - procedure, aids, forms of medication, methods of administration. Insulin Therapy. 12. Nursing procedure for topical application of drugs. Nursing procedure in the application of drugs to the respiratory tract. 13. Nursing procedure in the application of infusion therapy - fluid and electrolyte balance disorders, types of infusion solutions. Nursing procedure for application of transfusion preparations and blood derivatives. 14. Nursing procedure in puncture and endoscopic procedures - types of examination, aids, examination procedure, patient preparation. 15. Nursing process in dying patient, care of deceased and survivors. Ethical aspects. Exercises 1. Nursing unit, job description of individual health workers, model situation - communication with patient in hospital environment. 2. Work with medical and nursing documentation. 3. Modeling situations - in nursing care planning and meeting the patient's needs, nursing diagnostics. 4. Excursion to a standard nursing unit. 5. Model situations - bed adjustment, manipulation with auxiliary bed devices. Model situations - when securing health care for adults and children. Oral care, special oral care. Band dressing, bandage technique. 6. Practical training in monitoring physiological functions - consciousness, blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, breath, weight and height. 7. Practical training of dilution of disinfectant solutions, handling of disinfectants. Preparation of surgical instruments for sterilization. Model situations - barrier nursing care. 8. Practical training of administration of parenteral and enteral nutrition. Practical training of introducing the NG probe. 9. Practical training of biological material sampling - preparation of aids, environment, patient. 10. Practical training of bladder catheterization - preparation of aids, environment and patient. Practical training of enema administration. 11. Practical training of oral and injectable drugs - preparation of aids, environment and patient. Types and methods of administration of insulins. 12. Practical training in topical application of the drug. Practical training of administration of drugs to the respiratory tract - oxygen therapy. 13. Practical application of infusion therapy - preparation and application of infusion, aids. Practical training of application of transfusion preparations and blood derivatives. 14. Practical training in preparation of aids, environment and patient during puncture and endoscopy. Preparing a sterile table. Taking care of the patient before, during and after exercise. 15. Practical training of dying care. Caring for the deceased.
