Course content
Lectures 1. Etiology and pathogenesis of oncological diseases. 2. Epidemiology, classification and prevention (primary, secondary, tertiary) oncological diseases. 3. Diagnosis of oncological diseases. 4. Therapeutic approaches in oncology. 5. Therapeutic methods in oncology (chemotherapy, biological therapy, hormone therapy). 6. Radiotherapy - history, principles, methods. 7. Teleradiotherapy - principles, utilization, radiosensitization, radioprotection. 8. Brachyradiotherapy - principles, usage. 9. Special techniques of radiotherapy - stereotaxis, protons, IORT etc. Exercises 1. - 2. Basic concepts and principles in radiotherapy. Irradiation techniques. 3. - 4. Patient fixation. Movement and safety at the radiotherapy workplace. Personal dosimetry. 5. - 7. Simulator work. 8. Irradiation documentation. 9. Treatment planning and work on irradiators.
