Course content
Lectures 1. Atom - structure, ionizing radiation - types. X radiation - origin, properties. 2. - 3. Radiology - equipment and principles of individual fields - radiodiagnostics, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy. 4. Principles of radiation protection, legislation. Stochastic and deterministic effects of radiation. Quantities and units used in radiation protection. Exposure limits. 5. Reasonably achievable levels of radiation protection, how to achieve and demonstrate them. 6. Basic distribution of sources of ionizing radiation from the point of view of radiation protection. Medical exposure from the point of view of radiation protection. Categorization of workers with ionizing radiation. 7. Controlled zone, monitoring. Ensuring emergency preparedness, internal emergency plan, classification of extraordinary events. 8. Radon program and natural exposure. 9. International Organization for Nuclear Research. 10. Nuclear power plant - principle, issues of nuclear waste storage. 11. Nuclear energy in the Czech Republic and in the world. 12. Credit test.

Learning activities and teaching methods
  • Contact hours - 24 hours per semester
  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 20 hours per semester
  • Attendance on a field trip (number of real hours - maximum 8h/day) - 7 hours per semester
