Course content
Defining the concept of evidence-based medicine, or midwifery based on historical developments and modern trends. Current scientific discourse in the field of midwifery. Current situation of using and developing evidence-based practice. Benefits and pitfalls of evidence-based practice. The term "evidence". Interpretation to search for appropriate scientific sources according to the Haynes classification (Haynes pyramid). Interpretation of basic scientific terminology of randomized study, cohort study, double blind study, meta-analysis. Presentation of the Essential Resources of Scientific Articles Cochrane Scientific Portal, Evidence Based Medicine. Practical training of formulating the main issues arising from the PICO framework, searching for relevant sources of information, critical evaluation of found scientific work from the point of view of usability and possibility to draw conclusions. Presentation of the individual work of the student on a particular topic of midwifery.
