Course content
The incidence and prevalence of cancer, mortality, factors of tumors, cancers, tumor dissemination in the body. Clinical classification of malignant tumors, cancer genetics. The role of nurses in the prevention of cancer. Malignant diseases of the head and neck. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, tracheostomy, complications, prevention. Specifics of communication in patients with tracheostomy. Malignant diseases of the lungs. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, complications, prevention. Malignant diseases of the colon and rectum. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, complications, prevention. Malignant diseases of the kidneys and prostate. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, complications, prevention. Malignant diseases of the reproductive organs. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, complications, prevention Malignant breast disease. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, complications, prevention. Malignant diseases of the blood system: malignant lymphomas, acute and chronic leukemia. Etiology, classification, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment options, complications, prevention. Assessing the needs of the patient with cancer therapy, determine the nursing problem. Plan nursing interventions, education of regime measures and implementation options. Specifics of the surgical treatment and radiation therapy. Particularities of pharmacological treatment and chemotherapy. Procedures for paravenous leakage cytostatics. Hormonal therapy. Biological therapy. Tracking complications. Assessing the needs of the patient with a stoma on the digestive tract. Stoma complications. Aids for ostomates. Lifestyle stoma patients. Food and drinks. Physical activity in patients with a stoma. Psychosocial problems stoma - clubs stoma. Plan nursing interventions, education of regime measures and implementation options. Assessment of patient needs, determine the nursing problem. Plan nursing interventions in the care and education: oral, nutrition, hydration, skin and tissue integrity, coping with pain, abnormal bowel, prevent infectious complications, psychological support. Dividing cancer pain. Evaluation of cancer pain. Instruments measuring pain rating scales. Principles of treatment of cancer pain. Evaluation of analgesic therapy and its effect. Evaluation of the impact of pain on daily activities and overall quality of life. Side effects of opioids. The nurse's role in monitoring pain. Plan nursing interventions, education of regime measures and implementation options. Basic principles of palliative medicine and nursing care. Relationship supportive and palliative care. The most common end-stage symptoms (wheezing, coughing, terminal rattling breath, nausea, vomiting, constipation, intestinal obstruction syndrome, anorexia, cancer cachexia, hiccups, itching, etc.) and their possible solutions. Psychosocial aspects of advanced disease. The terminal stage of the disease. Organizational forms of palliative care, hospice care. Plan palliative nursing care. Plan education and support to family and caring for the sick. Ethical and psychological approach caregivers. Preventing burnout.

Students will - Be able to describe the procedures for seeking and influencing needs in relation to activities of daily living in patients with cancer. - Know the basic epidemiology and etiology of cancer, will orient the diagnostic methods used in oncology, will know the basic principles of treatment in oncology, will focus on prevention and screenigových programs in the Czech Republic - Know the basic principles of nursing. Care of patients treated with radiotherapy and basic principles of nursing. Care of patients treated with chemotherapy and biological therapy, will provide an overview about the possibilities of securing venous access in oncological patients - Know the basics of occupational health and safety at work with cytostatics, will be able to detect infectious complications in cancer patients will know the principles of nutritional support of cancer patients, will know the principles of good communication with patients and their families - Know the basic ethical rules for the treatment of cancer patients will be able to advise on social and legal issues and possibilities of home care
