Course content
Syllabus of lectures: A general overview of infectious diseases and HIV / AIDS. Epidemiology and principles of infectious diseases, immune response and laboratory findings. Clinical course, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of communicable diseases. Methods of treatment, its proper application and side effects. Principles of complex treatment of infectious diseases. Treatment of antibiotics, chemotherapies, antivirals, antimycotics and antiparasitic agents. Immunotherapy. Prophylactic measures for infectious diseases. Clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment of patients with selected communicable diseases: diarrheal diseases of bacterial, viral and parasitic. Infectious liver disease. Neuroinfections. Tonsilopharyngitis and lumbar syndrome. Exanthema diseases. Antropozoonózy. HIV / AIDS and opportunistic infections. Syllabus of exercises: Communicating with a patient with an infectious disease and the specifics of nursing care and access to patients with an infectious disease. General principles of communicating with infected patients. Communication with the family. Home care for chronically ill, people with complications and consequences. General ethical issues in the presence of infectious diseases. Infectious disease in old age. Infectious disease in pregnancy. Infectious disease in immunodeficiency. General and specific principles in the care of infectious patients, regime measures in infectious clinics and workplaces. Principles of a barrier system for the treatment of infectious patients. Nutrition Principles in Patients with Infectious Diseases. Nursing interventions in selected symptoms of infectious diseases, their monitoring and evaluation. Thermoregulation disorders in infectious diseases. Dehydration and disorders of mineral management in infectious diseases. Nausea and vomiting. Diarrhea. Opportunistic infections in immunosuppressed patients. Pain in patients with infectious disease. Depression and anxiety in patients with an infectious disease. Disorders of consciousness in patients with an infectious disease. Mobility disorders in patients with infectious disease. Disorders of skin integrity and exanthema in patients. Nursing care for patients with: bacterial diseases, mycoses, viral diseases, parasitic infections. Nursing procedures and interventions in life-threatening conditions in infectious medicine. Principles of vaccination against infectious diseases. Epidemics of infectious diseases, anti-epidemic measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
