Course content
1. Cell cycle and its regulation, apoptosis, necrosis. 2. Reproduction of cells, mitosis and meiosis at the molecular level, consequences of these processes in carcinogenesis and reproduction process. 3. Process of carcinogenesis, molecular genetic methods and their application in pathology. Laser microdissection, Real Time PCR, chip technology. 4. Gene imprinting, its significance, examples of human genetics, methods of study. 5. Characterization of viruses, methods of their detection and characterization. 6. Differentiation and development of multicellular organism, problem of homeobox genes. 7. Immune system molecules, their function and importance in immune responses, conditionality of their diversity. 8. Methodological basics of biotechnology, cloning, vectors, restriction enzymes and their significance, methods of gene expression monitoring, transgenic animals. 9. Cloning of animals. 10. Gene therapy and possibilities of tissue engineering, pharmacogenetics. 11. Identification of persons, microchimerism, problems of free circulating nucleic acids. 12. Overview of methods studied - summary (methods of molecular genetics: PCR and its modification, sequencing, methods of gene expression analysis 13. cloning, overview of microscopic techniques, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, event. visit a specialized laboratory.
