prerequisite
Knowledge
Knowledge of taxonomy of algae and bluegreen algae and fundamental characteristics of main taxonomical units (Cyanobacteria; Euglenophyta; Dinophyta; Heterokontophyta - Chrysophyceae, Synurophyceae, Bacillariophyceae, Fucophyceae, Xanthophyceae; Haptophyta, Rhodophyta, classes of groups Chlorophyta and Charophyta).
learning outcomes
Student can characterize various taxonomical units of algae and cyanobacteria including its systematic position, student can describe ultrastructure features of model members of discussed groups in detail. Student can recognise amount of members defined groups of algae and bluegreen algae, student will be able to work with determinative and scientific literature. Student can use basic laboratory methods used for evaluation of water quality (pH, conductivity), preparing of permanent speciments, staining of algal cells a working with light microscope.
