Course content
1. History of evolutionary biology (lamarckism, darwinism, neodarwinism, neolamarckism, punktualism, neutral evolution, kreacionism aj.) 2. Genotype, fenotype, adaptation. Microevolutionary mechanisms. 3. Microevolution (coevolution, population variability, clines, subspecies) 4. Speciation (species, origin of species), reproductive isolation 5. Macroevolution (evolutionary trends, konvergence, divergence, phylogenetic trees, systematics, cladism etc.). Phylogenetic laws and rules, local and mass extinctions, evolutionary speed. 6. History of life on Earth: Origin of life, origin of eucaryotic cell, origin of multicellularity, origin of skeleton 7. Basics of ecology for biogeography. Climate. Zonal and azonal vegetation. Biomes. 8. Tropical and subtropical forests. Temperate forests. 9. Boreal forests. Mediterranean vegetation. Grassland. Tundra. 10. Desert. Caves. Salt ecosystems. Wetlands. Marine ecosystems. 11. Phytogeographical and zoogeografical regions. 12. Islands. Mountains. Landscape fragmentation. 13. Biogeographical regions in the Czech Republic.
