Course content
1. Introduction, study material. Body plan of chordates and their relations to other animal phyla. Characteristic features, morphology, anatomy and taxonomy of the Subphyla Tunicata and Acrania. 2. Characteristic features, morphology and anatomy of the Subphylum Craniata. 3. Phylogeny of Craniata. Characteristic features, morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, and ecology of the Agnatha group. Basic arrangement of Gnathostomata, phylogenetic problems. 4. Gnathostomata: Classes Placodermi, Acanthodii, Chondrichthyes. 5. Phylogeny of Osteognathostomata. Characteristic features, morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, and ecology ofActinopterygii. 6. Sarcopterygii - Characteristic features, morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, and ecology of the Class Amphibia. 7. Amniota - basic adaptation for terrestrial life. Characteristic features, morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, and ecology of the Class Reptilia. 8. Class Reptilia. Systematic of important groups. 9. Class Aves - characteristic features, morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, and ecology. Paleognathae and basal groups of Neognathae - Galliformes, Anseriformes. 10. Class Aves - rest of Neognathae. 11. Class Mammalia - characteristic features, morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, and ecology. 12. Class Mammalia - phylogenetic arrangement (Prototheria, Metatheria, Xenarthra, Afrotheria) 13. Class Mammalia - Boreotheria.
