Course content
The course focuses on current issues in English language teaching in the Czech Republic and globally. Specifically, the course is organized around modules, focusing on the issue of teaching English to young learners and also addressing the use of translation and mother tongue in English language teaching. 1. Current approaches to teaching and learning a foreign language in younger school-age children. 2. Translation (and mother tongue) in foreign language teaching. 3. Translation as a process, translation as a product. 4. Selected theoretical approaches - functional approach to translation. 5. Selected procedures and activities (TILT, TOLC, etc.).
