Course content
Teaching heterogeneous classes (including SEN pupils) Content and Language Integrated Learning New technologies in ELT Teaching literature using readers, stories, rhymes

  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report in a foreign language) (10-15) - 10 hours per semester
  • Team project (50/number of students) - 20 hours per semester

be familiar with basic principles of effective classroom management of English lessons / including all the items in the detailed lesson plan and basic classroom language; be familiar with the principles and procedures of teaching language systems and language skills; be familiar with a variety of different evaluation tools; be aware of some learner's specific education needs; be familiar with with basic educational documents (RVP ZV, CEFR, EJP); be able to find some language activities in various resources including the Internet; be familiar with the subject's metalanguage.
Skills
apply the basic principles of effective management of English lessons /including detailed lesson planning and using basic classroom language; implement theoretical knowledge about teaching language systems and language skill in own lesson planning - either when focusing each system or skill separately or integrating them; find some language activities in various resources including the Internet and evaluate how appropriate they are for pupils' language development and for the key competences development; self-evalute own skills and describes own strengths and weaknesses in English language teaching skills; use the subject's metalanguage.

be familiar with various approaches to teaching in order to satisfy learners' specific needs; explain terminology associated with content and language integrated instruction and development of CLIL materials; describe differences between language instruction and CLIL; be familiar with principles of effective integration of technology into language instruction; be familiar with a variety of ICT tools available for language teaching and learning; be familiar with various approaches to using English literature for children taking into account the pupils' ages and language levels.

apply various approaches to teaching in order to satisfy learners' specific needs; reflect the specific environmental and learner's needs and flexibly choose suitable procedures; apply the theoretical knowledge (CLIL) to the development of content and language integrated teaching units; apply principles of effective integration of technology and a variety of available ICT tools into language instruction; apply various approaches to using English literature for children taking into account the pupils' ages and language levels; suggest ways of using literature in ELT.
