Course content
1. Introduction, definitions, and paradigms of the EU integration process 2. Foundation of the EU, basic principles of European integration 3. EU institutions - Council of EU, European Council, Commission 4. EU institutions - EP, European Court of Justice and other bodies 5. Four fundamental freedoms, common market, economy and monetary union 6. Cohesion policy, agricultural policy 7. Common Foreign and Security Policy, European Security and Defence Policy, Police and Judicial Co-operation in Criminal Matters 8. EU enlargement 9. Member states' participation in EU activities, foreign relations 10. The Czech Republic and EU 11. Current issues of EU integration, future of EU

Students must have knowledge of European integration at the level of KAP/VEI
learning outcomes
Students will acquire basic information on the origin, development and institutional structure of European Union. They will describe and explain the operation of EU bodies within particular common and coordinated policies. They will understand the relation between EU activities and the situation in Member States.
