Course content
1. Classical conception of totalitarianism (primordiality of totalitarianism) 2. Classical vs. modern conceptions of totalitarianism 3. Modern totalitarian regimes in theory 4. Modern authoritarian regimes in theory 5. Theories of hybrid regimes 6. Modern totalitarian ideologies 7. Authoritarian mentalities 8. Psychological, cultural, social and legitimizing aspects of non-democratic regimes

explain the importance of elections for the functioning of a democratic political system
assess the limits of different electoral systems in relation to fundamental democratic principles

explain the nature and types of interest mediation systems

analyse and critically interpret different types of media output based on knowledge of the parameters of the media environment
critically interpret the implications of the effects of constitutional reforms
on the basis of the analysis, identify the main characteristics of the system of intermediation of interests in a particular country
identify, through analysis, the differences between the written constitution and real political practice
on the basis of an analysis of the electoral act, assess the fulfilment of the principles of democratic elections
search and critically evaluate the literature on a given topic
