Course content
1. Democratic theory, concept of citizenship and the intermediary sphere 2. History of citizenship and civil society 3. Liberal and republican concepts of civil society 4. The public as a critical audience 5. Trust and social capital 6. Institutional forms of civil society - the relation between the state and the non-profit sector 7. Institutional forms of civil society - the relation between social movements and interest and pressure groups 8. Institutional forms of civil society - lobbies 9. Strategies and techniques of interest groups 10. Promotion of interests in practice 11. Europeanization of civil society and interest groups 12. Global civil society and the non-profit sector in international and transnational context
