Course content
The history of archaeological research on both sides of the Czech-Bavarian border Wider range of Czech-Bavarian border in prehistory - Imports of raw materials, review and mutual contacts archaeological cultures on both sides of the current border between the Czech Republic and Bavaria Czech-Bavarian border in the early and high Middle Ages, religious institutions Medieval Cheb region, town of Cheb, castles of Cheb ministeriales Castles and fortresses of Czech-Bavarian border in the High and Late Middle Ages Fortified buildings in the region in the late Middle Ages and their role in Czech-Bavarian conflict, archaeology of conflict areas Medieval and modern defunct communications in the region Archaeology of villages of medieval and modern origin in the region Archaeology of urban environment in the monitored area Czech-Bavarian border in the modern era, the effects of WWI WWII Settlement discontinuity in the region after 1945 and its impact as a subject of archaeological research of Czech-Bavarian border and archeology of modern times - Archaeology of the Iron Curtain

Students learn about the importance of archaeological research in border regions and the contribution of the archaeological exploration to the understanding of their past. Students will gain advanced insight into the archaeological evidence of contacts in the area of today's Czech-Bavarian border area in prehistoric times, medieval and modern.
