Course content
1. Basic types of landscape, geomorphological units, settlement zones. 2. Types of prehistoric and medieval monuments preserved as visible ruined features. 3. Non-destructive methods of archaeological fieldwork. 4. The development of cultural landscape since prehistory to early modern era.

To summarize basic non-destructive survey methods, and the possibilities of their application in researching past settlement patterns

Knowledge
To summarize current research issues of cultural, both prehistoric and medieval, landscape, the relation of human settlements and nature, and partial categories of social space conversely
To summarize the principals and options of using individual methods of field survey of past settlement settlements, their form and structure
To summarize the meaning of scientific fields and their importance for landscape reconstruction (historical and settlement geography, cartography, historical ecology)
Skills
To evaluate the importance of archaeological monuments in context of other cultural landscape and environmental categories critically
To propose methods of surveying cultural landscape with regard to research
