Course content
Lectures 1. The immune system. 2. Non-specific and specific immunity. 3. Cells of the immune system. 4. Humoral immunity. 5. Barrier functions of the body and mucosal immunity. 6. Cytokines and inflammation. 7. Complement, antigen presentation, HLA. 8. Flow cytometry. 9. T-lymphocytes, Th1/Th2/Tc reaction. 10. B-lymphocytes. 11. Immunoglobulins. An antibody-based immune response. 12. Regulation of the immune system. 13. Repetition. A Lab exercise 1. Occupational safety and fire protection, legal regulations. 2. Accuracy and correctness of laboratory methods. 3. Cells of the immune system - differential budget of leukocytes, microscopy. 4. Agglutination and precipitation methods. 5. Nephelometric determination of serum immunoglobulins. 6. ELISA 7. CIK - proof of circulating immunocomplexes. 8. Flow cytometry - determination of phenotyping of T and B lymphocytes. 9. Flow cytometry - determination of oxidative burst. 10. Flow cytometry - determination of basophil activation test. 11. Flow cytometry - blastic transformation of lymphocytes. 12. Repetition 13. will explain the principles of laboratory methods for monitoring humoral and cellular immunity
Skills
observes the principles of work safety and fire protection in the immunology laboratory
under supervision, performs protein identification including Ig nephelometry and turbidimetry and detection of circulating immunocomplexes
using the flow cytometry method, determines the phenotyping of T and B lymphocytes, basophil activation test, lymphocyte blast transformation and oxidative burst under supervision
controls the principle of ELISA immunochemical methodology using an enzyme to mark an antigen or an antibody
