Interdisciplinary characteristics - laboratory results interpretation viewed and needed for clinical practice and mutual influence. Lectures: 1.Physiology of calcium phosphate metabolism - calcium, phosphor and magnesium regulation axis parathormone PTH - calcitonin - vitamin D, Ca2+ sensing receptor, FGF23. 2.Disorders of calcium phosphate metabolism - hypercalcaemia, hypocalcaemia, hyperphosphatemia, hypophosphatemia, renal-bone disease, hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyoridism. 3.Laboratory methods of calcium phosphate metabolism - preanalytics, analytics and bases of interpretation - setting of Ca, P, Mg in serum and blood, PTH, vitamin D, calcitonin, PTHrP, FGF23, reference limit, bases of interpretation. 4.Bone remodeling and its regulation - humoral regulations (sex steroids, parathormon, vitamin D, calcitonin, IGF), local regulations (Osteoprotegerin-RANKL, osteocyt-osteoblast-osteoclast and their cell-to-cell interaction). 5.Disorders of bone remodeling - osteoporosis, osteomalacia, Paget's disease, bone metastases, glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis, sclerosing and dysplastic bone diseases. 6.Laboratory methods of bone remodelling disorders investigation - bone remodeling markers, preanalytic, analytic and postanalytic aspects, genetic testing. 7.Practical operation of the bone metabolism surgery closely connected to clinical laboratories. - Bone quality and fracture risks, indications and performing of bone densitometry. Harvesting in bone surgeries - coordination of laboratory investigation requirements with laboratory.
