Course content
Lectures 1. Epidemiology, epidemiological methods. 2. Characteristics of the epidemic process. 3. Principles of fighting infectious diseases. 4. Disinfection and sterilization. 5. Nosocomial infections. 6. Epidemiology of non-infectious diseases. 7. Basics of microbiology - collection and sending of biological material. 8. Basics of microbiology - cultivation and determination of pure cultures. 9. Basics of virological examination methods. 10. Pathogenicity and virulence. 11. Hygiene requirements for the operation of a medical facility. Exercises 1. Principles of work in epidemic outbreak. 2. Disinfection, disinfectants in practice. 3. Sterilization in practice. 4. Decree 195/2005 Coll. in practice. 5. Nosocomial infections, investigation. 6. Analysis of food and respiratory epidemics. 7. Analyzes of selected nosocomial epidemics. 8. Analyzes of viral hepatitis epidemics and skin infections. 9. Sampling of individual types of materials for microbiological examination. 10. Microbiological cultivation and determination of pure cultures in the laboratory. 11. Hygiene requirements applied in health care facilities.
