Course content
Lectures 1. Characteristics of research in health care and its direction, organization of research in the Czech Republic, areas of the research. 2. Scientific approach, basic concepts, sources of human knowledge (traditions, experiences, tests and mistakes, scientific thinking) ethical aspects of scientific work in health care. 3. Information sources - evidence based medicine, printed sources x electronic, primary x secondary, abstract, research citation ISO 690, impact factor. 4. Methods of scientific work - pre-research phase (exploration, piloting, pretest), basic methods of scientific work (observation, description, comparison, experiment), basic logical procedures (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction). 5. Techniques of data collection - observation, experiment, study of documents. 6. Data collection techniques - questionnaire, survey, scale, case report, interview. 7. Project preparation - preparatory phase, research problem, project preparation outline. 8. Research report - structure of the report, publication of research results. 9. Introduction to statistics - basic concepts and objectives of statistics, statistical data processing, principles for compiling tables and graphs.
