Course content
HEMATOLOGY - 3 weeks (120 hours) Content content of practice - internal and external quality control in the hematology laboratory - receipt of material, organization of operation, SOP, registration and dispatch of results - taking capillary blood, making a peripheral blood smear - determination of blood count values - differential budget, morphology of stained blood cells in normal and pathological conditions - basic cytochemical examinations - prothrombin test - APTT - clotting - bleeding - examination of fibrinogen and fibrin products - budget of stained smears from sternal puncture

  • Practical training (number of hours) - 120 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) (1-10) - 10 hours per semester

Knowledge
to explain the physiology of hematopoiesis and blood clotting
to explain the principles of laboratory diagnosis of blood diseases and coagulation disorders and interpret the possibilities and limits of the instrumental analysis of the blood picture and coagulometers
Skills
to perform instrumental analysis of the blood picture, make a smear of peripheral blood and bone marrow and evaluate it microscopically
to perform instrumental screening coagulation tests and evaluate them
to control the basic operation and daily operation of analyzers and coagulometers, calibrate the devices and establish the daily norm
to distinguish physiological from pathological results and perform basic differential diagnosis of blood diseases
