Course content
Lectures 1. General principles and procedures of first aid, chain of custody, legal liability. Uniform first aid procedure: pre-medical first aid, emergency services. Emergency call, communication with the operations centre, procedure 2. General examination of the affected person, basic vital signs. Ethical aspects of first aid. Securing the accident site, safety of the rescuer and the casualty. 3. Conditions of unconsciousness - first aid. 4. First aid for shock conditions. 5. Basic emergency resuscitation. ERC Guidelines 2021. 6. Ensuring airway patency, lung-to-lung ventilation, indirect cardiac massage, automated external defibrillation. 7. Specifics of CPR in children. 8. CPR supported by an automated external defibrillator. 9. Emergency resuscitation for drowning, choking. 10. Types of wounds. 11. Bleeding, arrest of bleeding, External bleeding - arterial, venous, mixed. Internal bleeding. Bleeding from body orifices - first aid. 12. Foreign bodies in wounds, animal injuries. 13. Other serious injuries: injuries of the skull, brain, spine and spinal cord - first aid. Seminars 1. Practical training of activation of the lifeline. Communication with the Emergency Medical Services Operations Centre. Examination of the condition of the affected person. 2. First aid techniques and equipment, technical first aid: removing clothing, removing helmet, rescuing. Monitoring of vital signs. Material equipment for first aid. Practical training of positions used in first aid. 3. Practical training in first aid for unconsciousness. 4. Practical first aid training in shock conditions. 5. Practical training of CPR, indirect cardiac massage. 6. Ensuring airway patency, diagnosis of respiratory arrest, recovery position, cardiopulmonary resuscitation - lung-to-lung breathing, 7. Practical training of CPR in children. 8. Practical training of CPR with the support of an automated external defibrillator. 9. Practical training of CPR in drowning, choking. 10. Basic dressing technique, scarf and patch dressings, bandages. 11. Practical training of stopping bleeding by direct compression, using compression bandage, tourniquet. Treatment of a loss wound. 12. Practical procedure for injuries with a foreign body in the wound, practical procedure for injuries caused by an animal. 13. Practical training in the treatment of skull and spinal injuries.
