Course content
1. - 2. Atom - structure, ionizing radiation - types, formation, properties. 3. - 4. Radiology - instrumentation and principles of individual disciplines - radiodiagnostics, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy. 5. Principles of radiation protection, legislation. Stochastic and deterministic effects of radiation. 6. Quantities and units used in radiation protection. Exposure limits. 7. Reasonably achievable levels of radiation protection, how to achieve and demonstrate them. 8. Basic classification of sources of ionising radiation from the point of view of radiation protection. 9. Medical exposure from a radiation protection point of view. Categorisation of ionising radiation workers. 10. Controlled area, monitoring. 11. Ensuring emergency preparedness, internal emergency plan, classification of emergencies.
