Course content
1. Chemistry as a natural science. 2. Historic period of development of chemistry as a science. Period of chemistry. Stage of the oldest chemistry - Antiquity. 3. Alchemy, iatrochemistry. The emergence of scientific chemistry; pneuchemistry, phlogiston´s theory. 4. Period of building strong grounds of scientific chemistry - basic chemical laws. 5. Outstanding chemists and physicists and their contribution to the development of chemistry. 6. History of discoveries of chemical elements and compounds. 7. Brief history of basic chemical mode of production. 8. The concept of the chemical industry. Production of chemicals in the Czech Republic. 9. Oil refinery. Production of primary petrochemicals. 10. Processing of petrochemicalsemi-products. 11. Processing of tar semi-products. 12. Production of agrochemicals. 13. Production of pigments.
