Course content
1st Introduction - biochemistry and medicine. 2nd Amino acids, peptides. 3rd Proteins. Blood plasma, hemoglobin, red and white blood cells. 4th General properties of enzymes, kinetics. 5th Physiologically relevant saccharides, lipids. Nucleic acids, anabolism. 6th Hormones action. Antioxidant protection of the organism. 7th Internal environment, acid-base balance. Digestion, nutrition, catabolism. 8th Liver function, cholesterol. Reins function. 9th Indications of biochemical examination. Taking of biological material for examination. Files of biochemical examination(tests). 10th Reliability of biochemical examination. Interpretation of the results of biochemical examination(tests). 11th Physiological range of biochemical - explain the boichemical examination by the use of rapid tests. Pathological changes in biochemical tests.

  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 40 hours per semester

Knowledge
Basic knowledge of high school biochemistry.

Students are able to: - describe individual nutrients - framework, structure, representatives, - describe the enzymic action, - describe the hormones action, - summarize the course of metabolism and digestion, - explain the boichemical examination.
