Course content
1st Definition of the living organism, types of biomolecules and chemical bonds in living organisms. Saccharides - sorting, functions in organisms, glycoside bonds, glycoproteins. 2nd Fatty acids, triglycerides, phospholipids etc., compound lipids, steroids, lipoproteins, biological functions. 3rd Amino acids, peptides, proteins, chemical properties, biological function, occurrence, primary, secondary and tertiary structure of proteins, biomembranes. 4th Basic kinetic parameters of biochemical processes, makroergic compounds. Enzymes - the composition, functions, sorting, kinetics of enzym reactions, regulation of enzyme activity. Coenzymes and cofactors of enzymes, structure and function. 5th Anaerobic glycolysis, pentos cycle - the biological importance, its basic integrades, the energetic effect, oxidative decarboxylation of a-oxoacids. 6th Citric acid cycle - the course, the context of other metabolic pathways, energetic effect, glyoxylate cycle - the course, biological significance, milk glycolysis, alcohol fermentation. 7th Saccharides digestion, D-fructose and D-galactose metabolism. Respiratory chain - the main level, biological significance, oxidative phosphorylation, chemiosmotic theory, glukoneogenesis. 8th Digestion of lipids, beta-oxidation of fatty acids, the synthesis of fatty acids. Digestion of proteins. Non-transamination conversion of amino acids, transamination - the course, biological significance, examples. Decarboxylation of amino acids. Coded amino acid metabolism. Purine and pyrimidine bases, synthesis and biodegradation, the structures of DNA and RNA. 9th Biosynthesis of DNA and RNA, DNA and RNA catabolism. Genetic code, mutation. Detoxification of ammonia, urea cycle. Protein synthesis - the main stages of the process, viruses, principle of pathological effect. 10th Heme synthesis, degradation of hemoglobin, transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide through the blood, blood buffering system. Photosynthesis - dark phase and the Calvin cycle. 11th Vitamins A, carotenoids, D, E, K and C - structure, biological function. Hormones - basic distribution. 12th Regulation principles of biochemical processes, active and passive transport through membranes, mechanism, examples.
