Course content
Biochemical characterization of blood, liver, muscle and connective tissue. Acid-base balance. Principles of biochemical regulation at different levels. Digestion and metabolism of proteins, saccharides, fats and nucleic acids. Note: Increased number of hours for lessons is used to the possibility of extending the interpretation of the mechanism of important biochemical processes.

Knowledge
The knowledge of general, inorganic and organic chemisstry is expected.

Students are able to: - describe the biochemical characterization of blood, liver, muscle and connective tissue, - explain and formulate the acid-base balance, - describe the processes of digestion and metabolism of saccharides, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids.
