Course content
1st lecture Definition, characteristics and segmentation of the environment. Characteristics and interest of the environment chemistry. Historical overview of development conservation and formation of the environment. 2nd lecture Basic ecological concepts and definitions. Introduction to ecotoxicology. 3rd lecture Biological interactions with chemical agents, uptake processes of chemical agents. Contaminants and pollutants. 4th lecture Global environment problems. 5th lecture Environmental problems of Czech Republis and its individual regions. Environment and the European Union. Environmental problems in Pilsen. 6th lecture Components of environment - atmosphere - composition, pollution, protection. 7th lecture Components of environment - hydrosphere - composition, pollution, protection. 8th lecture Components of environment - pedosphere - composition, pollution, protection. 9th lecture Biogeochemical cycles. Natura 2000. Information sources. Environmental legislation - basic laws in Czech Republic. Environment conservation (protection of nature and countrzside). 10th lecture Energy. Renewable resources of energy. 11th lecture Waste management. 12th lecture Excursion to the water-station in Pilsen, ČHMÚ (Czech hydrometeorological institution) in Pilsen and others (according to possibility).
