Course content
1st lecture Introduction to the study of organic chemistry, history and development of organic chemistry. Types of organic compounds. Covalent bond, theory of molecular orbitals, single, double and triple bound. Writing chemical formulas. Models of organic molecules and their imaging. Isomerism, geometric isomerism (cis-trans, E / Z, syn-anti), optical isomerism, optical activity. Factors affecting covalent bonds (inductive effect, conjugation, Mesomeric effect). 2nd lecture Course of organic compound reactions (factors affecting the organic compound reactions, types of organic reactions, examples of reaction mechanisms). 3rd + 4 lecture Characterization and identification of organic compounds. (Isolation of the chemical individual, verification of purity, elementary analysis, determination of relative molecular weight. Principles of the physico-chemical methods of structure study, colourfulness of the compounds). 5th lecture + 6 lecture Hydrocarbons (alkanes, cykloalkanes, alkenes, alkynes, hydrocarbons with multiply bonds). Cyclic hydrocarbons with more cycles and cyclic hydrocarbons with multiply bonds. 7th lecture Alkyl halides, nitrocompounds, amines. 8th lecture Aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene structure, description of aromatic state, stabilization energy, the most important aromatic hydrocarbons). Electrophilic substitution (reagents, conditions and rules of electrophilic substitution). 9th lecture Substituted derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons (halogenated derivatives, sulfonic acids, nitrocompounds, amines, phenols, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids, multifunctional aromatic compounds). 10th lecture Oxygenous derivatives (alcohols, ethers, esters of inorganic acids, carbonyl compounds, dicarbonyl compounds, ketenes, carboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acids, unsaturated mono-and dicarboxylic acids). 11th lecture Functional derivatives of carboxylic acids (Acyl halides, anhydrides, amides and imides, nitriles, esters, orthoestery). Substitution derivatives of carboxylic acids (halogenoacids, nitroacids, amino-acids, hydroxyacids, aldo- and keto-acids). Derivatives of carbonic acid. Derivatives of cyanic acid and isocyanic acid. 12th + 13. lecture Heterocyclic compounds (general characteristics, principles of nomenclature, the most important reactions of heterocyclic compounds, examples of syntheses). Note: The nomenclature of organic compounds is discussed as part of thematic units of the individual lectures. Seminars are conducted in response to issues lectured. Subject matter that is not lectured - natural compounds and antibiotics - students will prepare for the exam by self study from recommended literature and using tuitions. Study of the natural compounds includes: Saccharides (monosaccharides, oligosacharides, poly saccharides - the fundametals of saccharide chemistry, cyclic structure of saccharides). Lipids - general characteristics, classification, meaning. Amino acids (a-amino acids of proteins, their reactions and characteristics, peptide bond, peptides, polypeptides, proteins. Nucleic acids (structure and meaning). Terpenes (types of terpenes, the most important examples). Steroids (definition of notion, basic structures, examples of biologically important steroids). Alkaloids (definition of notion, examples of alkaloids). Natural dyes (colourfulness conditions, examples of dyes).
