Lecturer(s)
  • Klečka Milan, Mgr. Ph.D.
  • Štěpánková Jitka, RNDr. Ph.D.
Course content
Seminars are focused on the experimental activity of future chemistry teachers at high schools. Students demonstrate the theoretical knowledge needed to explain the various chemical processes, the controlling of basic laboratory techniques and they acquire skills associated with the demonstration of experiments which are used in chemistry lessons at high school. 1) Hydrogen 2) Oxygen 3) Halogens - 1st part 4) Halogens - 2nd part - halogens compounds 5) Sulfur 6) Nitrogen and phosphorus

Learning activities and teaching methods
Laboratory work, Skills demonstration, Individual study
  • Contact hours - 44 hours per semester
  • Practical training (number of hours) - 44 hours per semester
  • Preparation for laboratory testing; outcome analysis (1-8) - 16 hours per semester
prerequisite
Knowledge
to master the issues of basic subjects - pedagogy, psychology
to control basic knowledge of specialized subjects general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and fundamentals of didactics of chemistry
control the overview of pictograms, h-sentences, p-sentences, principles of safe work in a chemical laboratory
demonstrate knowledge of procedures for working with aggressive, corrosive, toxic, flammable, oxidizing and other groups of hazardous substances
Skills
demonstrate the ability to perform simple laboratory procedures while respecting all occupational safety and health rules
to provide first aid in bleeding, burning, burning, electric shock, unconsciousness, poisoning with poisonous substance
to demonstrate basic laboratory techniques - work with glass, filtration, crystallization, distillation, sublimation, chromatographic separation, titration
to assemble simple apparatuses to individual laboratory techniques
learning outcomes
Knowledge
in the preparation of experiments to apply basic knowledge of subjects of general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and fundamentals of didactics of chemistry
in preparation for laboratory work to assess the risks of work with a specific group of chemicals with which the student will work, look up the safety data sheets of these substances on the Internet
to study the instructions for a set group of experiments and to divide them into experiments suitable for the work of students at the lower grammar school, for the experiments carried out at the higher grade of the grammar school (in vocational schools) and for the demonstration exercises conducted by the teacher
to prepare a theoretical explanation of the principle of each experiment conducted and the conclusions that result from the experiment (with respect to the category of students for whom the attempt will be selected)
to apply the knowledge of pedagogy and psychology at work in the laboratory
Skills
to show attempts from the whole set of tried experiments and to supplement them with methodological instructions for the given category of students
to explain the course and the principle of each experiment with conclusions
to carry out pupil and demonstration experiments on oxygen, hydrogen, halogens, sulfur and nitrogen and their compounds
in conducting experiments, consistently follow the correct methodological procedures
