Course content
1. Signals in digital systems. Signal parameters. Logic devices CMOS - principles, properties. Static and dynamic parameters. 2. Dynamic logic devices. Tristate- and open collector devices. Buses. 3. Combinational circuits - description by logic expressions, truth tables, maps. Minimization. 4. Basic combinational building blocks. Comb. circuits - dynamic parameters, hazards. 5. Flip-flops and latches - function, timing, metastability. 6. Sequential circuits - description, properties. Synchronous and asynchronous sekv. circuits. 7. Timing in sequential circuits. Unused states. 8. Large-scale systems. Clock domains, Handshake, pipelines, paralelism. 9. Counters - binary, modulo, Gray, reversible. Application of counters. 10. Timers. Principles of asyncronous and synchronous tiners. Edge detectors. 11. Memories - SRAM, DRAM and SDRAM, EEPROM, FLASH. Special types - LIFO, FIFO, double-port. 12. Programmable logic circuits. FPGA. 13. Reserve - selected topics.
