  • Tůmová Olga, Doc. Ing. CSc.
  • Sýkora Martin, Ing. Ph.D.
Course content
Means and methods for testing and measurement of motion (amplitude, velocity, acceleration), force (pressure, torque, vibration and noise), thermal (temperature measurement using different physical principles, measurements of surface temperatures - pyrometry and infrared technology, the measurement of heat - calorimetry and removed (supplied) heat, flow rate (gas, liquid and solids), the technical properties of materials. The students are acquainted with the characteristics of sensors, their involvement in the measuring chain, methods of recording, viewing and evaluating of the measured values. There are described the methods for reducing the uncertainty of measurement by sensors calibrating, disruptive variable compensation, differential sensor and filtration.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture with practical applications, Laboratory work
  • Contact hours - 26 hours per semester
  • Practical training (number of hours) - 26 hours per semester
  • Preparation for laboratory testing; outcome analysis (1-8) - 8 hours per semester
  • Preparation for an examination (30-60) - 45 hours per semester
prerequisite
Knowledge
Knowledge of the concepts of process measurement error and measurement uncertainty; knowledge of the principles, the basic properties and application areas of electromechanical, analogue and digital instruments; the ability to independently measure the electrical values (voltage, current, electrical power, frequency, resistance, capacitance and inductance).
learning outcomes
Students - Explain the origin of the uncertainties and possibilities of their reduction or elimination, - Explain the principles of transducers of physical quantities into electrical signals, - Describe the methods of measurement of physical quantities, processing, displaying and recording.
