Course content
Lectures 1. Barriers in the lives of people with sensory and physical disabilities. 2. Architectural barriers. 3. Architectural planning and current legislation. 4. Basic parameters of movement of persons with mobility and sensory disabilities in the environment. 5. Dimensional requirements for movement and orientation in space. 6. Creating a barrier-free environment in the city. 7. Creating a barrier-free environment in residential buildings. 8. Creating a barrier-free environment in public buildings. 9. Technical and compensation aids. 10. Justification for the indication of compensatory aids for selected diagnoses. 11. Prescription of compensatory aids. Practicals 1. Practical suggestions for adaptation of a barrier-free home environment for selected diagnoses. 2. Suggestions for home equipments with compensatory aids to ensure self-sufficiency. 3. Practical suggestions for adjusting barrier-free working environment for selected diagnoses. 4. Training of the use of compensatory aids for food preparation and eating. 5. Training of the use of compensatory aids for the hygiene. 6. Training of the use of compensatory aids for the dressing and put on the shoes. 7. Training of the use of compensatory aids for the verticalization. 8. Training of the use of compensatory aids for the locomotion. 9. Training of the use of compensatory aids in practising of instrumental everyday daily activities in model situations. 10. Practical adjustment of the articles of daily use and training of their use in model situations. 11. Practical use of compensatory and technical aids to prevent falls in seniors.

  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 10 hours per semester
