Course content
1.Medicine in historical and current point of view. 2.Ancient cultures - China, India, Greece - medicine, eminent figures. 3.Hippocrates and his school. Importance, work, legacy for the present day. 4.Medieval medicine - monasteries and providing of health care, beliefs in health and disease. 5.Arabian medicine I. - Avicenna, Celsus. 6.Arabian medicine II. - The Canon of Medicine, status of women in society. 7.Renaissance medicine - medicine of observation. 8.17th - 19th century in medicine, point of view on human, attempts of health care organisation. 9.Boerhaav, Ramazziny, Leevenhoek, Malpighi, Petty. 10.Purkyně, Liné, Jenner. 11.Procházka, Sechenov, Mechnikov. 12.Health care in 20th century - progress. 13.Fleming, Quérin, Domangh. 14.Health care in Czech lands - main representatives. 15.Current health care.
