Course content
1. General introduction - definitions of gerontology, geriatrics, aging theory, aging process, ageism. 2. Organization of health and social care for the elderly. 3. Physical manifestations of aging, psychological manifestations of aging, adaptation, biological and psychological age. 4. Dying and death. Palliative, hospice care. 5. Specific features of diseases in old age, polymorbidity. Old-age pharmacotherapy, polypragmazia. 6. Changes in the cardiorespiratory system. 7. Changes in the gastrointestinal and urogenital system. 8. Changes in the locomotor apparatus. 9. Instability and falls, old age injuries. 10. Intellectual disorders. 11. Specifics of rehabilitation care in geriatrics. 12. Communication with seniors.

  • Contact hours - 24 hours per semester
  • Preparation for formative assessments (2-20) - 5 hours per semester
