Course content
Lectures: The methods of pathology. Autopsy (dissection), necropsy, biopsy. The disease and its causes. Internal causes of the disease. External causes of the disease. The symptoms of the disease. Regressive changes. Necrosis, bed sores (decubitus) and gangrene. Atrophy and dystrophy. Disorders of metabolism of proteins, amyloidosis, hyaline and fibrinoid degeneration. Metabolism disorders of fats and sugars. Metabolism disorders of water and minerals. Inflammation. Definition, characteristics and symptoms of inflammation. Nonspecific inflammation and its forms. Specific inflammation, characteristics. Infection and immunity. Infectious disease and its symptoms. Bacteremia, sepsis, pyemia, septic shock, immune disorders. Allergy, forms of allergic reactions, symptoms of allergy. Immunodeficiency - forms and causes. The progressive changes. Regeneration and repair. Hypertrophy and hyperplasia. Metaplasia and dysplasia. Benign and malignant tumors, characteristics, classification and manifestation. Blood diseases and diseases of the blood formation. Leukopenia and agranulocytosis. Anemia - forms, etiology and pathogenesis. Hemoblastosis and hemoblastomas. Hemorrhagic states - symptoms, causes. The heart and blood vessels diseases. Diseases of the arteries. Atherosclerosis, etiology, pathogenesis and prevention. Hypertension and hypertensive disease. Diseases of veins, forms, manifestations, complications. Ischemic heart disease. Angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. Endocarditis, myocarditis and pericarditis. Heart defects, forms, etiology and pathogenesis. Cardiac insufficiency, manifestation, causes. Pathology of the digestive tract. Motility , digestion and absorption disorders. Malabsorption syndrome. Gastritis. Ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. Infectious intestinal diseases. Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Colon carcinoma. Acute abdomen. Appendicitis, pancreatitis, peritonitis. Ileus, etiology and pathogenesis. Inflammation of the liver. Cirrhosis. Tumors of the liver. Diseases of the gallbladder and biliary tract. Pathology of the respiratory tract. Inflammatory diseases of the airways. Angina. Pneumonia and bronchopneumonia.
