Course content
Lectures 1. Fundamentals of caring for a newborn. Development of a healthy child. Child age distribution and characteristics of individual age groups. 2. Development of a prenatally and postnatally afflicted child, asphyxia syndrome. Psychomotor retardation. 3. Nutrition. Nutrition of a baby from nurse-child to adolescence. Obesity, hypertension, prevention of atherosclerosis and orthopedic defects. 4. Heart and Circulatory Diseases - Congenital heart defects. The acquired heart disease. Neurocirculatory asthenia. Hypertension. Cardiomyopathy. 5. Diseases of the respiratory system - anatomical and functional peculiarities of respiratory disease in nurse-child and young children, the main symptoms. Rhinitis, sinusitis, adenoid vegetation, angina, inflammation of the pharynx and larynx, bronchitis and bronchitis, inflammation of the lungs and pleura. Cystic fibrosis. Bronchial asthma. Development of child immunity and allergic diseases. Dermorespiratory syndrome. Pollinosis. Aspiration syndrome. 6. Diseases of the digestive tract - Acute nutritional disorders in nurse-child and older children - clinical symptoms, treatment. Functional disorders of the digestive tract, acetonemic vomiting, congenital malformations of the digestive tract. Inflammatory and parasitic diseases of the digestive tract. Hepatic and pancreatic diseases. Metabolism disorders. 7. Renal and urinary tract diseases - Functional traits of the urological tract in children. Congenital anomalies. Acute and chronic inflammation of the kidneys and urinary tract. Nephrotic syndrome. Urethral stones, kidney tumors. Anuresa. Kidney transplantation, the principle of hemodialysis. 8. Diseases of the endocrine glands - Thyroid disorders. Disorders of the adrenal glands. Pituitary disorders, growth disorders. Diabetes insipidus, diabetes mellitus in childhood. Retentio testis. 9. Other selected internal diseases of childhood - Rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatic fever. Hemophilia. Thrombocytopenia. Acute failure of basic functions. Enkopresis. Acute and chronic GIT infections. Sudden abdominal events. Rey's syndrome. Mental anorexia. 10. Neuroinfections (Meningitis, Encephalitis, Boreliosis). Infectious diseases in childhood. A brief overview of rare infectious diseases imported to the Czech Republic from abroad. 11. Sudden events in childhood. Hyperpyrexia. Convulsions in childhood. Aspiration. States of unconsciousness. Poisoning. Resuscitation. 12. Injuries - Injuries in neonates and toddlers. Sports and traffic injuries. 13. Written credit test.
