Basic phases of the progress. First movies (documentary pictures of ordinary reality). First scenic picture. Meliés' film fantasies. Porter's simultaneously recorded temporaly overlaping scenes. Silent cinematography in Europe (France - impresionistic and surrealistic avangard, Germany - cinematic expresionism, USSR - cinema - truth, Scandinavia). Sound film (the origin of coloured celluloid, the genesis of movie genres). Italian neorealism of the 40's and 50's (Cesare Zavattini, Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio de Sica). French new wave of the 50's and 60's (Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, Jacques Rivette, Eric Rhomer; Alan Resnais, Agnes Varde, Chris Marker; new type of dramatic art - Jean-Paul Belmondo). British free cinema of the 50's and 60's (influenced by British civilism of the 30's - Lindsay Anderson, Tony Richardson, John Schlesinger, Karel Reis, Jack Clayton). New German movie of the 60's (Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, Volker Schlöndorff, Alexander Kluge, Margaritta von Rott, Wim Wenders). Modern streams of the end of the 20th century. Production in the countries of so-called socialist camp. Production in ex-countries of so-called socialist camp after the fall of communism.
