Ethics as a philosophical discipline. Pre-understanding and its importance. Culture and cultural relativism. Individual relativism, non-cognitivism. Morality as a psychic phenomenon, Freud's interpretation of morality. Piaget's and Kohlberg's models of morality development. Religious ethics. Natural Law Ethics. Utilitarianism and its forms. Deontological ethics. Preference utilitarianism and Peter Singer. Overview of the history of ethics - ancient and medieval. Overview of the History of Ethics - Renaissance and Modern Period.

| The students will understand the main categories of philosophical ethics. They will identify different kinds of moral reasoning and they will be able to deduce their consequences. They will also understand the most influential psychologic and biologic accounts of morals. |
