Course content
Beginnings of any art theory; Vitruv and his influence; the ideal of classic art and the idea of historical developement of art (Vasari, Winckelmann, Hegel...); artist as genius; scientific approach to history of art in the 19th century (Wölfflin, the Vienna School); theories of modern art (avant-garde); art and politics; visual culture and its discurses.
