Course content
1st Introduction to Philosophy - the basic principles and issues. 2nd Focus and coherence of philosophy - both historic and systematic. 3rd Ontology and ethics, theology and science, the concept of man. 4th Anthropology and ethics. 5th The questions of health, illness and death. 6th Practical issues and social ethics: ethics in human relations. 7th Ethical issues in critical stages of life, illness, suffering and death. 8th Moral questions of health care professions: respect for life 9th Medical ethics 10th Moral issues in the global world

Lecture supplemented with a discussion
  • Preparation for comprehensive test (10-40) - 20 hours per semester
  • Preparation for formative assessments (2-20) - 12 hours per semester

learning outcomes
Students will know basic cathegories of philosophy and ethics. They become be familiar with possible different approaches and will be prepared to stand a reasonable position in special problems of medical ethics.
