1) Semiotics as a theory of semiosis 2) Properties of natural language and its relation to other sign systems 3) Language sign 4) Marking methods: iconicity, indexicality, arbitrariness, convention 5) Substance of expression and its modality 6) Code and language structure 7) Semiotics of sentence and utterance 8) Semiotic theory of text 9) General and specific models of communication 10) Semiotics and pragmatics 11) Communication competence 12) Literality and non-literality 13) Relevance theory
